Group Therapy

  • Group therapy provides a supportive environment where individuals come together to share concerns, explore personal challenges, and grow through connection and mutual learning. Led by an experienced therapist, group sessions help you gain self-understanding, build skills to address your concerns, and improve your relationships with others.

Each session, lasting 60 to 120 minutes, offers a safe space for members to express their challenges, aspirations, feelings, and ideas openly and honestly. Groups are available both in-person and online, offering flexibility to meet your needs.

In this collaborative setting, you’ll not only gain insight into your own experiences but also contribute to the healing and growth of others. Group members often find empowerment in supporting one another, becoming both learners and therapeutic helpers within the group dynamic.- American Group Psychotherapy Association

  • As people, we live in constant relationship, with ourselves, with others, and with the systems that shape us. Group therapy is a space to bring those dynamics into awareness and into connection. What we struggle with internally shows up in our relationships, and through group work, we begin to understand these patterns in real time.

In group, you may discover that the feelings you believed were yours alone are shared by others. This shared exploration can be profoundly healing. Through open dialogue, reflection, and feedback, members learn to stay present with themselves while building awareness, empathy, and authenticity.

Group therapy acts as a small mirror of the larger world. The same forces of race, gender, class, identity, and power that shape our daily lives are reflected within the group. By exploring how these dynamics unfold in the “here and now,” we create space for insight, transformation, and deeper understanding of how we show up in our relationships and communities.

As a relational, psychodynamic, and Gestalt-oriented therapist, I view the group as a living, breathing process and an opportunity not just to talk about life, but to experience it differently, together.

  • Do I need to be in individual therapy to join group therapy?

No, it is not required to be in individual therapy to join a group. While some participants join based on recommendations from their therapist, many people seek out group therapy independently as a supportive and effective way to address their goals.

    Is group therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a key component of group therapy. All group members are expected to maintain the privacy of what is shared during sessions, creating a safe and secure environment for everyone.

How long do group therapy sessions last?

Group therapy sessions typically last 90 minutes. The duration of the group itself depends on its structure and purpose. Some groups are short-term, running for 4–6 weeks, while others continue on an ongoing basis, sometimes evolving to meet the needs of the members over time.

How do I know if group therapy is right for me?

If you’re considering joining a group, I encourage you to contact me for a consultation. During this conversation, we’ll discuss your goals and what you hope to gain from the experience. This will help determine if group therapy is the right fit for your needs.
